Mandy Moore can thank Instagram’s existence for her future marriage. The star of NBC’s This Is Us shared in a new interview that her first official “conversation” with Taylor Goldsmith just happened to take place on social media.

An artist herself, the former pop idol took to Instagram one day to express her appreciation for Dawes, which Goldsmith leads. “I took a picture of their album and posted it on Instagram,” Moore told People in its latest cover story. “Somehow, Taylor saw it and sent a note to me.”

That initial conversation turned into more in-depth talks, shifting from social media to other mediums. “We started emailing back and forth, then we went on a date and the rest is history,” she continued. “Thanks Instagram, for helping me meet my fiancé!”
