Opa, again! 2018 was the year of weddings–yes, plural–for Maria Menounos. The TV personality married husband Keven Undergaro in a second wedding this year, which was held this time around in her family’s home country of Greece.
The bride and Undergaro first made it official on New Year’s Eve during an impromptu live broadcast wedding held in New York City’s Times Square. Menounos told The Knot in an exclusive interview last month that she was in the final phases of planning her second wedding to Undergaro, though her father had taken on much of the work himself.
“We’re going to Greece and we’re getting married again,” Menounos, 40, said at the time. “And we’re having a ceremony and a party… We’re doing it in the village that my dad is from. It’s called Akovos.”
While Menounos opted for a long-sleeve lace number by Pronovias for her outdoor first wedding in January, the bride tapped Greek designer Celia Kritharioti to custom create her second wedding dress for her Mediterranean village nuptials.
The piece itself was an off-the-shoulder design comprised of silk organza featuring hand-painted flowers comprised from a silk tulle fabric.
“Truly a magical fairytale,” the bride expressed alongside a photo of herself cutting the cake with Undergaro. “Huge Thanks to @catering.dipnosofistirion @dimitrisskarmoutsos for the most amazing food and for making every dream come true. Everything I had hoped for you took to a level I couldn’t even imagine. Thank you to both Dimitris!”
While Menounos originally set out for a simple second wedding, her father had different plans in mind. “A friend of mine showed me the scene from the Godfather and she started laughing and was like, ‘All of the pictures you’ve showed with me look like this,’” Menounos previously teased to The Knot. “It looks like I’m recreating it and my dad looks like a taller Al Pacino.”
