The wedding planning begins. Maria Shriver joined the Today show on Tuesday, January 22, only to be confronted about a rather hot topic affecting her family lately, which is her daughter’s engagement to Chris Pratt.
“Everywhere we turn we see a little bit about your daughter’s engagement,” co-host Hoda Kotb noted of Katherine Schwarzenegger and Pratt’s shocking announcement. “So congrats to her and her new fiancé.”
Shriver, seemingly prepared for the question, replied enthusiastically. “She’s super happy,” the I’ve Been Thinking author noted of the recent proposal. “And gave me very strict instructions not to talk about it. She said, ‘It’s not your moment.’ I’m like, ‘I’m clear.’ I gave her that line!”
The couple announced their engagement January 14, with Pratt sharing a photo with Schwarzenegger inside their new home. (According to People, they are currently living together and planning for summer 2019 wedding.)
“Sweet Katherine, so happy you said yes!” the Guardians of the Galaxy actor, 39, wrote in his post. “I’m thrilled to be marrying you. Proud to live boldly in faith with you. Here we go!”
The future bride, 29, added, “My sweet love. Wouldn’t want to live this life with anyone but you.”
Shriver, of course, remained mum about specific future wedding plans. It was reported that she had helped Pratt with the proposal itself. “No one wants to hear from me,” the mom of four (Katherine, Patrick, Christina and Christopher) noted. “It’s not my moment. I know nothing, I say nothing.”
