David Norton and Vanessa Nelson are on a mission to find true love… again.
The Married at First Sight participants had their hearts broken during season 3 of the wildly popular FYI show. Now, the fan favorites are hoping for a different outcome on Married at First Sight: Second Chances.
FYI confirmed the new series to The Knot and other outlets on Thursday, September 15. Filming of the spin-off series is already underway in Norton and Nelson’s hometown of Atlanta, Georgia – and this time around the participants will have more control over who they are matched with.
On Married at First Sight, Norton met his match, Ashley Doherty, at the altar on their wedding day, while Nelson met Tres Russell moments before exchanging their vows. Although Norton wished to continue his marriage, Doherty chose to divorce.
Nelson and Russell decided to remain married on decision day, but at the six-month check-in, the duo announced that they had also called it quits.
Now, with the help of Married at First Sight relationship experts, Dr. Pepper Schwartz, Pastor Calvin Roberson, and Rachel DeAlto, Norton and Nelson will date multiple suitors in hopes of finding love.
“I am grateful to be given a second chance at finding love and can’t wait to share my journey with the fans of Married at First Sight,” Norton recently told People. “I’m excited to experience this next chapter in the story of finding ‘Mrs. Right.’ Hopefully this next chapter will be the last!”
Norton – who kept a positive outlook throughout his first attempt at marriage – told The Knot that his Married at First Sight experience was an eye-opening one. “I learned so much about myself and how to be a better spouse once I find the right person,” he shared after season 3 ended. “It didn’t work out, and that stinks, but I am confident that everything in life happens for a reason. And there is a reason why I was married at first sight to Ashley. I truly believe that this road is taking me to where I need to be.”
Following the experiment, Nelson also remained optimistic. “This experience has prepared me for marriage and my future relationships,” she told The Knot. “I am forever grateful and thankful for this experience. I am still optimistic that love is in my future and this only solidifies I am on the right track.”
As viewers anxiously await Second Chances, the season 4 participants are currently doing their best to make their marriages work. Watch their stories unfold on Married at First Sight, airing Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on FYI.
