Soon, they’ll be parents at first sight! Married at First Sight couple Jamie Otis and Doug Hehner announced on Tuesday, July 5, that they’re expecting their first child together.
The pair from the first season of FYI’s wildly popular social experiment series shared their news with People. “We can’t wait to start this new chapter of our lives,” Otis, 30, told the mag. “Being a mom has been my dream.”
Her husband, 35, added: “It feels like we’re just now truly starting our lives together. It’s the icing on the cake for us to be starting our family and we’re absolutely over the moon.”
Otis also took to Instagram to share the news with fans. “It’s true! We are Pregnant!” she gushed. “#BabyHehner says Hi!”
Otis and Hehner told The Knot exclusively back in April that they were ready to start a family. “Doug and I are definitely ready for babies! Yes! Finally!” said the future mom, who also starred on Ben Flajnik’s season of The Bachelor. “We both feel ready. We had to go through a lot to be confident in our marriage, but now that we are on the other side, we couldn’t be happier to announce that we cannot wait to become parents!”
She also shared some details about how they’d like to expand their family. “We’d like to have 2-3 and adopt 1 or 2,” Otis shared. “I had custody of my siblings and was a foster parent for a couple of years when I was younger. Ever since I had to take care of my siblings (who are all absolutely amazing!), I decided I want to adopt in my future. There are so many good kids in need of a loving home, and I hope to one day begin fostering again and eventually adopt a couple of children. Doug is completely on board with me on this! First step to fulfilling these dreams: buy our first home together – we’ve been actively looking for a few months now!”
