Here comes the bride. After months of planning and decision making, bride of the hour Meghan Markle made her grand entrance at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle on Saturday, May 19, providing one billion spectators worldwide with the very first look at her wedding dress, as well as other key details ahead of her ceremony to Prince Harry.

Markle wore a simple, sleeved, bateau neckline gown by acclaimed British designer, Clare Waight Keller. (Waight Keller became the first female Artistic Director at the historic French fashion house Givenchy last year).

Leading up to the wedding day itself, names like Erdem, Burberry, Ralph & Russo and Alexander McQueen remained top contenders. Stella McCartney was also a formidable option. Ultimately, though, Markle went with a traditional gown with a fashion-forward twist.
