Reunited at last. Meghan Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland, has arrived in London ahead of her daughter’s wedding to Prince Harry, multiple outlets confirmed Wednesday, May 16.
Ragland was reportedly greeted at the airport by a staffer named Amy Pickerill, who in February was revealed as Markle’s dedicated aide. Officially, Pickerill’s title is “Assistant Private Secretary to Prince Harry” though she’s working directly with Markle on, well, everything.
Ragland, meanwhile, arrived with a few items in tow, including a discreet black suitcase featuring brown trimmed hardware and detailing. However, the L.A.-based social worker and yoga instructor had an even more noteworthy item that made the extended trek to the U.K. Ragland carried on a Burberry garment bag—neatly folded—but its contents still remain a mystery.
Burberry is one of the top contenders to dress Markle on her wedding day, though there are plenty of questions about the contents within Ragland’s garment bag. (Such as: Does it contain somebody’s rehearsal dinner outfit? Did Ragland bring a classic trench to ward off the London fog? Does the bag contain something pertaining to the bride or the groom? We’ll find out Saturday, May 19.)
Upon landing, Ragland was then joined by her daughter and Prince Harry. According to People, the mother of the bride spent the entire afternoon with Markle and her future son-in-law—a welcome relief given other ongoing and unforeseeable family circumstances. (Markle’s father will no longer walk the Suits actress down the aisle due to health concerns and a crushing, staged paparazzi photo scandal.)
The bride’s parents divorced when she was just six years old, but both were expected to play big roles in her wedding day. In early May, it was announced that both Markle’s mom and dad were expected to land in the UK the week of the wedding.
“Mr. Thomas Markle and Ms. Doria Ragland will be arriving in the UK in the week of the wedding, allowing time for Prince Harry’s family, including The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, and The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, to spend time with them before the big day,” Harry’s secretary said in a statement at the time.
Now, Ragland will be spending the morning of the wedding with her daughter, even driving up with the bride to St. George’s Chapel Saturday morning. Watch the video above for more on the couple’s families reacting to their engagement.
