Numerous celebrity couples have now met through mutual friends–take, for example, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, as well as Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady. The latest surprise, however, is the story behind how Meghan Trainor and Daryl Sabara ended up meeting, and it was all due to their matchmaker: actress Chloe Grace Moretz.

The “All About the Bass” singer, 25, revealed to People that the If I Stay actress had introduced the pair to each other over a double date with Moretz’s then-boyfriend Brooklyn Beckham.

“I asked her to set me up on a date with the nicest guy ever,” Trainor recalled. “And she was like, ‘Well, that’s my friend Daryl.’”

The two couples went bowling followed by karaoke. “It was kind of like a middle school date,” the singer recalled. Meanwhile, her husband chimed in, “I thought, ‘I’m gonna karaoke with a Grammy winner—this’ll go over well!”

Their love story ultimately panned out. On December 22, a few days before Christmas, the couple married in an intimate backyard wedding ceremony. The bride wore a Berta gown for the holiday festivities, which she teased shortly after getting engaged.

“I’m thinking Christmas,” she previously told Entertainment Tonight. “Nice and cold, so that when we dance and get sweaty we can, like, cool off, you know?”

In June, she told Hoda Kotb, “I was thinking, my backyard’s real pretty. Like, real beautiful. I just want it be chill and with my family in the backyard, and I think I’m going to do that around Christmas time because it’s my favorite.”

All along, Trainor knew Sabara, best known for his role on Spy Kids, would be her future husband. “I kept screaming it in rehearsals, ‘I’m in love, and I don’t care who knows it!’” she concluded to People. “I definitely was positive month one when he was on tour with me, and we were like basically living together on the road.”
