They took an oath in Ibiza. A-listers Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander are married, several outlets reported Monday, October 16.
The couple—who’ve long remained notoriously private about their relationship, including their engagement, and now, their wedding—reportedly exchanged vows on Saturday, October 14, at La Granja in Ibiza. A source told E! News that the couple celebrated their newfound union with a lunch and a cruise with their closest family members and friends. A professional photographer trailed the couple and the wedding party to capture the heartwarming moments.
Speculation regarding the couple’s possible new marriage soared Monday after the Daily Mail published photos of the pair wearing bands on their ring fingers on Sunday. The images showed Vikander in a white dress and Fassbender in casual beachwear, both looking over-the-moon in love. At one point, the couple were photographed kissing—and their guests didn’t seem to mind at all.
Interestingly enough, the two fell in love several years ago while depicting a married couple in the 2016 movie The Light Between Oceans. In a 2016 Vanity Fair profile featuring Vikander, Fassbender commented on his co-star and her strongest attributes. (Her next big role is as Lara Croft in the Tomb Raider sequel.)
“She doesn’t take anything for granted,” he said. “With a lot of these actresses coming out, there’s this bravery that you don’t see so much in male actors… She doesn’t mind taking a character she’s playing to an ugly place. Her level of commitment made me focus and make sure I was as committed.”
