Michelle Branch is definitely not alone. The “Everywhere” singer announced over Independence Day weekend that she’s engaged to Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney.
Branch, who turned 34 on Sunday, July 2, was surprised by Carney at her birthday dinner with cake—and a ring.
“Thank you for all the birthday love and wishes,” the future bride wrote on Instagram, alongside a photo of her elaborate engagement ring. “Last night, right before I blew out my candles, Patrick asked me to marry him and then I had nothing left to wish for … 34 might be the best year yet.”

The couple first met at a Grammys bash two years ago. They then built a work relationship, which eventually led to romance. “I’d never had someone who was that supportive. He’s an amazing, amazing human,” Branch told People in April. “We both just jumped in with both feet.”
This is the second marriage for Branch and the third for Carney.
