The Stangle brothers Mike (Adam DeVine) and Dave (Zac Efron) are back at it again in a new trailer for Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates! But watch out, this trailer has earned its restricted audiences red band with some mature language!
As the plot was set up in their tamer premiere trailer, the boys’ sister Jeanie (Sugar Lyn Beard) is poised to marry her fiance Eric (Sam Richardson) in a beautiful destination wedding ceremony in Hawaii. With their track record of ruining family gatherings, the siblings’ father Burt (Stephen Root) lays down the law. Mike and Dave, self-proclaimed “fun dudes” feed off each other’s energy and bad ideas, so in order to keep them in check Burt tells them that they must bring dates to the wedding.
Thinking that they’ve found “nice girls” that they they’re “mom and sister would like,” the audience quickly learns that the ladies Mike and Dave thought were a hedge fund manager and schoolteacher, Alice (Anna Kendrick) and Tatiana (Aubrey Plaza), are actually just as (if not more) wild than the brothers themselves!
In trying to describe her job Alice tells Dave, “We hedge it. We hedge it hard,” while Tatiana seems to have a terrible aversion to children, hollering at them to get out of the pool so she can have “adult swim.”
With the ladies drinking and drug use, their daring four-wheeler stunts, and some hilariously crude humor which gives new meaning to the word “push pop,” this wedding will certainly be a memorable one – just not in the way Burt was hoping for his little girl’s big day.
