Mike Trout is flying high after proposing to his longtime girlfriend, Jessica Cox, on Saturday, July 2.
The 24-year old Los Angeles Angels star popped the question by hiring a skywriter for the picture-perfect proposal.
“Will you marry me Jess?” read the writing in the sky. The pro baseball player couldn’t have had better timing. His message came through loud and clear on the cloudless summer day.
Not long after the proposal, Trout took to Instagram. He couldn’t wait to share his engagement news with his one million loyal followers.
“She said yes!!!” he captioned the sky-written message. His new fiancee wasn’t far behind, posting the same image.
“After a few unforgettable days at home & in Boston with our families, I’m so excited to finally be able to officially call this amazing man my fiance! #62816,” the bride-to-be shared.
The newly engaged duo are used to making their relationship work long distance. Trout’s successful baseball career takes him all over the country, sometimes keeping the couple apart for weeks at a time.

Along with spending some much-needed one-on-one time with his new fiance, Trout has even more reason to celebrate over this July 4 holiday weekend. Following his epic proposal, the Angels beat the Red Sox 21 – 2 on Saturday night at Fenway Park in Boston.
