There’s something particularly sweet about celebrity couples who tackle everyday tasks together. In the final stretch of her second pregnancy, actress Mila Kunis took on a massive endeavor: Helping remodel her childhood home for her parents. Naturally, the A-lister’s husband, Ashton Kutcher, extended a helping hand both during and after her pregnancy, as evidenced in a new project documented on online video show My Houzz.

“I grew up in a very small town in the Ukraine,” Kunis, 33, recalls. “And when I was 9, my family moved into the condo that my parents still live in. I graduated in that condo.”

She recalls how both parents sacrificed everything for her family after they immigrated to America. “I have the greatest mom in the world… My dad is awesome and he’s one of the most prideful people in the world,” she remarks. “They’ve done so many things for my brother and I, and I so desperately want to give them something that I think they deserve.”

With the help of designer Breeze Giannasio, the stars helped transform the space into a more family-friendly environment. Kunis helped knock down walls (even while pregnant!) and made sure there was enough seating space for family meals.

Her parents—who are reticent to change—were away for several months as the couple and designer helped work on the space. Upon their return, Mrs. Kunis started crying. “Seeing my parents’ reaction to their condo for the first time made everything worth it,” says the actress as her mom adds, “I really like it.”

Kutcher then proposes a toast and his wife first takes the lead. “I would like to make a toast to my parents—to you guys working hard your whole lives. We love you,” she shares. “Thank you.”

Her father adds, “You know, guys. We love you both very much. But mostly, we love our grandchildren.

Finally, the actor chimes in and gets sentimental. “I couldn’t ask for better in-laws. We’re family,” he says. “There’s no distinction between Mila’s family and my family.”
