Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth Requested Guests “Please Don’t Take Photos” at Their Wedding

So that’s what happened. Over the holidays, a close friend of Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth posted a few photos on his Instagram Stories of the couple enjoying what looked suspiciously like a wedding (the actor was in a suit, Cyrus was in white, there was cake cutting, and a very obvious display of gold foil “Mr.” and “Mrs.” balloons in the backdrop).

Surfer Conrad Jack Carr, who shared those images, now feels terrible about missing the unplugged wedding ceremony memo. The bride’s sister Brandi Cyrus opened up this week about the family and friends-only, intimate occasion and the general sentiment when the photos leaked online.

“Whenever they’ve talked about getting married, they’ve always wanted to keep it very small and it just be the family and just be at the house,” Brandi told co-host Wells Adams on their podcast, Your Favorite Thing. “Honestly, Miley’s only friend that was there was her best friend, Jessie. And Liam had a handful of his friends there… from Australia.”

To align everyone prior to the festivities, the couple made one specific request. “Even with family and close friends, they still made a point to say, ‘Hey guys, this is a private thing for a reason. We love you all, but please don’t take photos.’”

Carr, unfortunately, missed this message and has since grappled with post-wedding guilt. “He feels really bad,” Brandi continued. “I didn’t really ask what happened, but I think from what he said, no one told him not to post about it. So he didn’t know.”

Still, Cyrus and Hemsworth announced their marital status proudly to the world days after their secret ceremony on December 23. “10 years later…” the Last Song actress captioned one photo with Hemsworth.

While their exact honeymoon plans remain unknown, the pair set off for the cold, joining the Hemsworth family (including Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky) for a winter trip after their nuptials.
