It was a dream of a day for Mr. and Mrs. Maxwell. Former Miss America 2016 Betty Cantrell and Spencer Maxwell married on Friday, April 13, but the seemingly inauspicious wedding date instead brought heaping amounts of good luck to the newlyweds.
The couple shares the first video from their wedding day exclusively with The Knot, which opens with an emotional message from the bride. “Spen, from day one, you have made me feel so loved unconditionally, and now, three years later, I’m about to marry you,” Cantrell muses in the clip. “It’s crazy, but I’ve known it from the first day that you were the one for me.”
Seth Butler of Moving Pictures Productions was tasked as the couple’s wedding day videographer. “He is an amazing videographer and puts so much time and effort into ensuring I get the best possible product,” Cantrell tells us. “He’s detailed-oriented and as a result, he captured so much of our whole wedding day.”
The montage features key moments like the couple getting ready to walk down the aisle, and another clip of the two partaking in the traditional Greek Orthodox ceremony held at Cantrell’s hometown church in Macon, Georgia. The pair opted for an entirely unplugged wedding ceremony for religious purposes.
“The Orthodox marriage ceremony has remained almost entirely unchanged since its origination centuries ago,” Cantrell adds to us. “It’s a ceremony that doesn’t allow for many ‘liberties’ in making changes. We did ask that our guests respected the sacrament and refrain from taking photos or videos during the wedding and simply enjoy the ceremony.”
