San Francisco Giants outfielder Hunter Pence and his longtime girlfriend Alexis Cozombolidis are engaged! The MLB athlete plotted with Disney staff to surprise Cozombolidis with an engagement ring and touching speech at Walt Disney World, and the whole thing was caught on video!
In an act of sneaky Disney magic, the crew over at the Disney Parks Blog staged a mock interview with the couple outside of the California Grill, a restaurant in Disney’s Contemporary Resort which offers the perfect spot for a proposal with its stunning views of Cinderella Castle.
The couple had spent a few days enjoying the parks and meeting Mickey, and when the interviewer asked Pence what his favorite Disney memory from the couple’s trip was, he effectively set Pence up to pop the question.
Pence starts by speaking to the interviewer and camera, “From this trip, my best memory, um, I think is right now because…”
He turns to Cozombolidis, she catches him reaching into his pocket for the engagement ring box, and her hands immediately fly up to her face in shock!
“Alexis, I’ve loved from the second I laid eyes on you,” Pence begins as he drops to one knee, Cozombolidis’ audible gasps being picked up by her microphone.
“You have made me such a better man. You’re literally my best friend. You’re my soul mate,” Pence gushes, his nervousness catching up with him as he stares up at his future bride.
The moment he catches his breath and begins again, fireworks start to explode around Cinderella Castle, perfectly positioned behind the pair.
Pence promises his love and faithfulness to Cozombolidis saying, “I promise to always love, and be a stand-up, loyal, true man to you, to give you my all.”
While fiddling with getting the ring box open, and before he can utter the key phrase, “Will you marry me?” his anxious girlfriend says, “Oh my god, yes! Yes!” and dives in to kiss her new fiancé.
Pence asks, “Will you marry me?” finally popping the box open to show her the engagement ring, but she’s just centimeters from his face, and cuts him off with a big kiss!
“I’m very, very excited. I’m literally speechless! I said ‘yes’,” Cozombolidis said to the Disney Parks Blog staff once the two composed themselves. “There’s no way I would ever say no… Ever!”

Later the baseballer shared a photo of the two sitting at the California Grill with Cozombolidis flashing her new diamond engagement ring. Pence captioned the tweet, “SHE SAID YES!! I am the happiest man ever.”
