One New York City marathon runner ended the race on Sunday, November 4, with a sparkling new ring on her finger (and a medal around her neck).
While approaching Mile 16 near the Queensboro Bridge, a nurse named Kaitlyn Curran spotted her boyfriend among the sea of spectators cheering on the intrepid runners. The difference between her love, Dennis Galvin, and the rest of her cheer squad (and the roaring crowd in general) was that he was down on one knee as she approached.
“Oh my God,” Curran expressed as she slowly buried her face in her hands. Other curious runners also spectated the sweet moment as they zipped past the point. Galvin, a firefighter for Jersey City, then presented Curran with a ring as the crowd then cheered on the couple and the surprise proposal.

She said yes, and the two then shared a hug before Curran went off to join the rest of her fellow marathon runners.
One family member told NBC New York that the couple, both longtime friends, has been together for four years.
