Two worlds certainly merged for Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra when they finally confirmed their engagement last month while their families met for the Roka ceremony in Mumbai, India.
Fans of the couple will be pleased to learn that the traditional ceremony included dancing for a session taught by the matriarch of the Chopra family, Madhu Chopra. This week, Denise Jonas, mother of Joe, Nick, Kevin and Frankie, posted a clip on Instagram from the informative lesson.
The video shows Madhu leading her future in-law in dance as the families are all dressed in traditional garb for the Roka.
After the couple’s ceremony took place in August, Madhu revealed what exactly happened during the Roka itself. “Nick enjoyed the prayers during the puja,” she told DNA last week. “It was a new thing for him and he took it seriously. He followed what our panditji said, and chanted the Sanskrit mantras accurately. Both he and his parents did it beautifully. They are nice people.”
She also approves of her future son-in-law. “Nick is calm and mature,” Madhu concluded in the same interview. “He’s a wonderful person and everyone in the family just loves him. He’s so polite and respectful towards elders. What more can a mother want?”
