It was a slow and steady start. Nicole Kidman comically recalled the beginning stages of her adorable romance with Keith Urban in a new interview with Ellen DeGeneres. According to the actress, it apparently took some time for her future husband to reach out to her initially.
“I remember thinking I had such a crush on him, and he wasn’t interested in me… It’s true!”the Lion star, 49, said on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Thursday, February 9. “He didn’t call me for four months.”
The audience gasped in response. “How is that possible?” DeGeneres replied. “Did he explain why? He must have been just shy.”
Kidman added that she hasn’t asked about the delay. “There’s certain things in a marriage… We’re here now, and it’s all good,” she noted. “We don’t need to hash up all that stuff.”
DeGeneres then noted a sweet, throwback photo of the actress with her husband—from when they first met. Urban shared the same image on his Instagram last summer to commemorate their anniversary.
“The craziest thing is to have a photo of when you first met,” Kidman told DeGeneres. “Someone just took that photo and sent it to us.”
Urban and Kidman married in Sydney, Australia, in 2006, and now share two adorable daughters named Sunday and Faith. Watch the interview above!
