A ring within a ring! WWE superstar John Cena, who proposed to longtime girlfriend Nikki Bella at WrestleMania 33 on Sunday, April 2, made sure to prepare an engagement ring that reflects his future wife’s personality. A. Jaffe ring expert Brittney Reagan tells The Knot that Cena selected a classic piece with a unique twist—all set on a resilient band.

The Trainwreck actor proposed to the Total Divas reality personality with a round, brilliant-center diamond balanced on a six-prong, channel-set band, which is comprised of smaller diamonds. According to Reagan, the center stone appears to be between three to five carats. The estimated value of the ring itself is upwards of $80,000. (The exact designer still remains unknown.)

“This is a classic ring,” Reagan says. “What makes it a bit unique is the channel setting that bookends the diamonds in the band. It’s a bit thicker than the delicate rings that are trending so much these days.”

Cena clearly took into account Nikki’s role as a WWE diva. “This will be beneficial for Nikki given her occupation,” notes the diamond expert. “Because it gives the diamonds a bit more protection than a classic pave band.”

On channel-set rings, diamonds are book-ended between two different types of precious metal such as gold or platinum. “The nature of a channel-set ring is great for an active woman who wants something a little more substantial on her finger than a delicate solitaire.” However, the design element is still timeless.

Overall, Reagan says Bella’s style of ring is ideal for a “classic-yet-bold” woman.

Cena chose a fitting place to pop the question. He proposed to Bella after they defeated The Miz and Maryse in a tag-team victory. “This is literally a once-in-a-lifetime thing,” Cena recalled on the Today show on Monday. “To fight alongside the woman that I love. So it was awesome.”
