Olympian Isadora Cerullo is getting married! The Brazilian rugby player played with her team in Rio de Janeiro, on Monday, August 8, but had no idea what was coming after the match.

Cerullo’s longtime partner, Marjorie Enya — who works as a manager at Deodoro Stadium — planned an elaborate proposal to follow after the game. Any disappointment Cerullo, 25, may have been feeling about her team’s loss to Australia was quickly replaced by pure excitement.

She told BBC Sport that something special was brewing when her girlfriend grabbed a microphone in the stadium and started delivering a speech.

“As soon as I knew she was in the squad I thought I have to make this special,” Enya told the outlet following the surprise proposal. “I know rugby people are amazing and they would embrace it.”

Enya insisted that she wasn’t nervous prior to popping the question, stating, “She is the love of my life.”

The future brides live together in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Cerullo holds dual U.S. citizenship after growing up in Raleigh, North Carolina. She moved to Brazil to prepare for the Olympic Games.

“The Olympic Games can look like closure but, for me, it’s starting a new life with someone,” said Enya after becoming engaged. “I wanted to show people that love wins.”
