Omarosa Manigault, the recently appointed director of African American Outreach for Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, announced her engagement to Jacksonville, Florida, pastor John Allen Newman at the end of July.
The couple met when Manigault was teaching at Howard University, according to TMZ, and have known each other for less than a year—and they’re not wasting any time with the wedding planning. Now, we’re getting a peek at the details of their upcoming wedding and a close up of the former The Apprentice contestant’s unique engagement ring.
Manigault told People that the ceremony will be held at the Sanctuary of Mount Calvary baptist church where Newman is a pastor, but the real challenge is finding a big enough reception space.
“It’s not just a marriage of two people, but it’s a marriage of two congregations,” says Manigault, who’s an assistant pastor at a Los Angeles church. “His church can hold 3,000 people and mine can hold 500, so we are trying to find a reception venue that can accommodate everyone.” And the dress? It sounds like she’ll be pulling inspiration from Ciara’s wedding gown, because “It changed the game,” she said.

And just in case you missed the background info on the ring, the five-carat rock was made by a jewelry designer friend from the Atlanta area. When Manigault saw the sparkler, she asked Newman if the piece of jewelry was an engagement ring and he responded with, “That’s engagement, wedding band and anniversary!”
With the presidential election only months away, we’ll venture to guess that wedding planning won’t be on the top of the couple’s priority list, but if anyone can multitask, it’s Manigault.
