Onward and engaged! Orange Is the New Black actress Samira Wiley announced on Tuesday, October 4, that she’s engaged to her girlfriend, Lauren Morelli.
Wiley, 29, made the announcement via Twitter, sharing a photo of herself laughing and flashing her sparkling new engagement ring.

“I’ll do anything with this one…” Wiley captioned the sweet image. She shared the same snap on Instagram with an uber simple caption.
This will be the first marriage for Wiley and the second for Morelli, a writer for Orange Is the New Black. The couple first met while working together on the beloved Netflix series, in which Wiley starred as Poussey.
While still married, the scribe memorably came out as gay in May 2014, in a tell-all essay for Mic.
“I was nervous about the first love scene I’d written for Alex and Piper,” Morelli shared at the time. “I’d loved writing it, loved watching a tenderness emerge in their relationship where passion always seemed to be the ruling principle, but by that time, I was so deep in my own self-doubt that I constantly felt like a fraud. I was sure it was bleeding into my writing. How could it not? I was married to a man, but I wasn’t straight.”
Shortly after publishing the piece, Morelli and Wiley stepped out together as an item that fall. The couple posed for their first official red carpet together at the Out100 awards in NYC, in November 2014.
This past January, Morelli adorably accompanied her girlfriend on the red carpet of the 22nd annual Screen Actors Guild Awards in L.A.

Prior to the proposal, Morelli surprised Wiley with a trip to Palm Springs. “Love it when she whisks me away for a weekend…” the actress shared with fans this weekend.
