Talk about stealing the spotlight! Video producer Jesse McLaren says he was recently asked to photograph his sister and future brother-in-law’s engagement session, and he obliged—but not without a keen sense of humor.
Just in time for Halloween, McLaren shared a series of images via Twitter, which have since gone viral due to one slight edit made to each photo: the prankster snuck Pennywise the clown from the popular horror movie It into every shot, and claimed that his sister had no idea.
“My sister asked me to shoot her engagement pics so I hid Pennywise the Clown in every photo. Countdown until she notices,” he tweeted Sunday, along with a handful of photos that have since gone viral.

In one of the photos, Pennywise can be seen crouching far off in the distance across a field as McLaren’s sister and soon-to-be brother-in-law hold hands. In another, his eyes are the only visible part of him as he gazes up at the happy couple, presumably looking off into the distance.
His sister seemingly responded on Monday, which McLaren screen-grabbed and shared via Instagram.
“On one hand, I really hope that you get the help that you need,” his sister texted to him. “On the other … I totally want to use these.”
McLaren’s original tweet has been liked more than 100,000 times and retweeted more than 33,000 times since he first posted it Sunday. The writer, who previously worked on The Colbert Show and now works at BuzzFeed, is no stranger to Photoshop pranks. His Instagram account includes memes of President Trump with long blonde hair and Oprah as a Dragon Ball Z character.
