Steamy selfies and new traditions! Dancing With the Stars duo Peta Murgatroyd and Maks Chmerkovskiy celebrated the first anniversary of their engagement on Monday, December 5, as they anxiously await the arrival of their first child.
Chmerkovskiy, 36, snapped a shot of the couple kissing after enjoying a romantic meal at upscale Manhattan restaurant Daniel. “Thank you @RestaurantDaniel and your incredible staff for our amazing first anniversary dinner!” he wrote. “@petamurgatroyd loved it so much we’re looking forward to making this our annual tradition. #InLoveWithThisChick #TodayWasAnAmazingDay #HadToTryDessert #CardioDayTomorrow.”
Earlier that day, Murgatroyd, 30, shared a snap of the lovebirds snuggling in bed. “To my best friend, with whom I get to spend the rest of my life with,” she captioned the sweet image. “You are everything that I’ve always dreamed of and I can’t wait for the next 50 years where I can fall asleep beside you, and fall in love all over again. #happy anniversary #inlove #soontobethree.”

Chmerkovskiy nostalgically posted a video from his proposal to Murgatroyd back on December 5, 2015. “I woke up every morning since that day happier and more in love than the last!” he wrote alongside the emotional clip. “I wrote message after message and deleted everything because I can’t find the words to express my love for you… All I got is my actions and a lifetime to make you the happiest woman ever! Happy anniversary @petamurgatroyd.”
During a visit to The Knot last month, Murgatroyd discussed in an exclusive interview that she and her fiance are focusing on the birth of their baby, but plans for their July 2017 wedding are also on their minds. “I’ve realized the dresses that I want. For my actual day, I want a very big dress… a full dress; nothing too crazy,” she revealed. “For the party afterwards, I definitely want something that’s fun, and just like a party version of that dress.”
Along with the gowns for her wedding dress swap, the mom-to-be has also chosen her attire for the days before and after the nuptials. The duo is planning a three-day wedding celebration in Long Island. “The fourth [dress] is like a beach party dress, because we’re holding it at the beach,” Murgatroyd told The Knot.
The beautiful blonde plans to wear her hair in an updo and don minimal jewelry during the seaside ceremony. She’s also intent on getting her body into the best shape possible post-baby.
“Who doesn’t want to look incredibly fit and beautiful on their day?” she concluded to The Knot. “I’m used to being fit and active, so it’s been a big change having to slow down a little bit.”
