When you know, you know, at least according to Pete Davidson. The Saturday Night Live personality opened up to GQ in its latest issue about his sudden and surprising engagement to Ariana Grande—though it didn’t necessarily come as a surprise to the couple.
“The universe works in strange ways,” he told the mag. “All I know is that I’m the luckiest guy in the world.”
Davidson shared details about the couple’s initial, whirlwind first few weeks of dating. “The day I met her, I was like, ‘Hey, I’ll marry you tomorrow,'” he said. He even went so far to send Grande engagement ring photos to show the pop superstar how serious he was about the topic.
Grande replied with her favorite options. “She was like, ‘Those are my favorite ones,’” he recalled, “and I was like, ‘Sick.’”
The ring itself is a 3-carat pear-shaped diamond designed by Mr. Flawless Greg Yuna.
The couple most recently moved in together into a luxury downtown New York City apartment worth $16 million. Grande was the one to purchase the urban pad, though Davidson’s duty is to take care of groceries.
“She’s really sweet,” he added. “She’s like, ‘This is our house,’ and I’m like, ‘You’re very nice for saying that. Thank you for letting me stay here.’ She’s like, ‘We’re getting married!’ And I’m like, ‘I know, thank you for letting me stay here.’”
