This Time… she’s married! Singer-songwriter Pia Toscano is officially married to fiance Jimmy R.O. Smith, The Knot can confirm.
The couple’s close friend, creative visual director Linda Cangro, tells The Knot the couple exchanged vows in New York City on Saturday, January 7.
The American Idol alum, 28, and dance professional, 35, exchanged vows before 185 guests following a 14-month engagement. The bride looked resplendent in a gown by Michael Costello, while the groom wore a tux by Octavius Terry-Sims.
It was important to Toscano that she wore a one-of-a-kind, custom gown. “The wedding dress to me is a style that no one has ever seen before,” Toscano tells The Knot. The first-look photo–taken by Jay Lim Studio and shared exclusively with The Knot–shows the bride in a pearl white gown with intricate beading, holding hands with Smith.
The bride and groom hired event planner Phyllis Inserillo of Lilabbys Events to craft a DIY wedding from the ground up. Toscano then enlisted the help of her “great friend” Cangro to sprinkle in “special creative touches visually.” For the day of the wedding, the pair had
Angelica Diaz of Eventworks NY serve as the on-site coordinator.
Toscano, one of the breakout contestants on season 10 of American Idol, first met Smith through an interesting celebrity connection—while on tour with Jennifer Lopez.
