Pippa Middleton is a busy gal – and she wouldn’t have it any other way! The future bride found time to author a cookbook while planning her upcoming wedding to her millionaire financier fiance, James Matthews.
In a new interview with the Daily Mail, the younger sister of Duchess Kate Middleton discussed a variety of notable topics, including what she and Matthews do to unwind, the inspiration for her book, and what she thinks of having one of the most famous bums in the world. While some may think the bride and groom-to-be might enjoy dining in posh restaurants, it turns out the duo prefers evenings at home on the sofa.
“It’s nice to go out,” Middleton, 33, admitted to the newspaper, “but it’s nicer to entertain at home.”
The ambitious couple find time midweek for relaxing, but their weekend plans often allow them to recharge in a more active way. Both Middleton and her 41-year old fiance take part in endurance races, such as triathlons and ski events.
In September 2015 – one day after the brunette beauty turned 32 – she completed a 50-mile swimming and running event in Sweden with her brother, James, at her side. Matthews – who was Middleton’s ex-boyfriend at the time – also took part in the race.
The engaged couple seem to thrive on their athletic compatibility. “I think James and I have the same spirit,” Middleton told the Daily Mail. “We are both competitive. We have had many adventures together. We have a lot in common and that helps. I don’t think it would work with a couch potato.”
Middleton is aware that most folks don’t spend their downtime distance running and skiing. “I think we do exhaust most people,” she said with a laugh.
However, Middleton has plenty of inspiration to maintain her active lifestyle. She penned her cookbook, Heartfelt, in collaboration with the British Heart Foundation. When she began the venture, Middleton didn’t know anyone personally who had suffered with a heart condition. But in July 2015, her good friend, Miles Frost, passed away from a heart attack at only 31-years old. She described his death as “a shock.”
The future Mrs. James Matthews knows the importance of living a healthy life. “It’s not just a balanced diet that is important for a good heart health,” she said knowingly. “Being physically active and maintaining a healthy weight will also reduce your risk of heart disease.”
As for her own svelte figure, Middleton has gained plenty of media attention. She made waves when she wore a form-fitting bridesmaid’s dress to her sister’s royal wedding back in 2011. Much of the attention was on her derriere, which she struggles to comprehend.
“I was surprised and still don’t understand it,” she admitted to the Daily Mail.
Although Middleton and Matthews’ wedding date has not been disclosed, the bride-to-be is certain of what she won’t be wearing that day. She once mused that she would be married in her tennis whites, but it seems she’s changed her mind.
When asked if the on-court attire was still in the plan, Middleton concluded, “No, that was a phase I went through as a little girl and I was having a bit of a battle about wearing a dress. I wasn’t into dresses as an eight-year-old.”
