Newlyweds Pippa Middleton and James Matthews may have pulled out all the stops for their May 20 nuptials. Their invitation, however, was the epitome of understated elegance.
Decorated in tasteful, tiny flowers in a pale shade of green, the invite features a crisp, white background with chic font. “Michael & Carole Middleton request the pleasure of your company to celebrate the marriage of Pippa and James at The Manor [in] Bucklebury, Berkshire,” the card reads.
Beauty expert Clémence von Mueffling posted an artful image of the stunning stationery on Instagram before arriving a the reception. “That wedding… getting ready for a very special evening… #robedprincesse #london #pippaandjames,” the Beauty and Well Being founder captioned the snap.
For a rather lavish wedding, that’s a remarkably low key invitation #PippasWedding #PippaMiddleton pic.twitter.com/QU903S71AV

One hundred guests were invited to the traditional ceremony at St Mark’s Church on the morning of the big day. That evening, 300 people attended the couple’s reception held conveniently at Carole and Michael Middleton’s estate in nearby Bucklebury.
The celebration apparently carried over into the late night hours. According to E News, the festivities were behind schedule throughout the evening, but party-goers still had a wonderful time taking in an acrobatic aerial performance by a Supermarine Spitfire aircraft, and singing along to Beatles tunes with the bride’s brother, British reality star Spencer Matthews, during his speech.
