Squeal! Hours after Clarence House confirmed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s engagement, the couple stepped out for their first official photo call together, where they greeted reporters and showed off her sparkling new engagement ring.

The beaming pair held hands outside of the Sunken Gardens at Kensington Palace on Monday, November 27. Markle, 36, looked beautiful in a white wrap coat by Canadian brand LINE over a moss green dress by P.A.R.O.S.H. She paired the outfit with pointed-toe stilettos by Aquazzura. The future groom, 33, accompanied his fiancee in a tailored blue suit and crisp white oxford shirt.

When asked how the prince felt about his engaged to the Suits actress, Prince Harry responded: “Thrilled.”

The future bride added that she was “so happy” as she graciously thanked reporters while showing off her new ring in public.

Prince Harry assured the public that the proposal details would be revealed–a promise kept by the couple, who shared the story with BBC News later that night.

After briefly showing off her freshly manicured hands and engagement ring to reporters, Markle held hands with Prince Harry and the two made their way back into Kensington Palace. The entire appearance was a little over a minute long.

Clarence House formally made the announcement on Monday morning. “His Royal Highness and Ms. Markle became engaged in London earlier this month,” it read in the statement. “Prince Harry has informed Her Majesty The Queen and other close members of his family. Prince Harry has also sought and received the blessing of Ms. Markle’s parents.”

The couple will marry in Spring 2018, marking the biggest wedding in the world since Prince William wed Kate Middleton in 2011. Harry and Markle first started dating in July 2016, and news of their relationship was confirmed in October 2016. At the time, the confirmation was accompanied by a scathing statement from Prince Harry about security concerns for his then-girlfriend.

Just this past September, the couple enjoyed their first public outing together at the Invictus Games in Toronto. “We’re two people who are really happy and in love,” Markle told Vanity Fair. “We were very quietly dating for six months before it became news, and I was working during that whole time. And the only thing that changed was people’s perception. Nothing about me changed. I’m still the same person that I am, and I’ve never defined myself by my relationship.”
