Unleashing the beats—and the laughs. Prince William and Duchess Kate Middleton filled in as guest DJs on BBC’s Radio One on Friday, April 21, and the royal couple giggled throughout the segment.
The two were invited to the broadcast to surprise DJ Adele Roberts, who will run in the London Marathon on Sunday for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s Heads Together campaign.
After shocking Roberts, the couple started their broadcast. “It’s Friday, [the] 21st of April, and this is a very special official chart,” William shouted. Kate immediately laughed as her husband’s radio voice boomed over airwaves across London.
It’s time for the #OfficialChart with @GregJames…and The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge! YES. REALLY. 😱

“We’ll bring you all the big stories, new entries, high climbers and of course, the top ten in full,” the princess said, taking over the mic. “Last week, Harry Styles went straight to number one with his debut single, ‘Sign of the Times.’ Can he do it again?” she asked on-air, making her husband grin.
Then her husband took over. “Or will Ed Sheeran reclaim that top spot? He had 13 weeks at number one with ‘Shape of You’ before Harry came along and spoiled his Easter… sounds familiar,” he joked, referring to his younger brother, Prince Harry.

Before stopping by station, William and Kate addressed a very serious topic in a new film for Heads Together–a foundation created to shed light on the impact of mental health concerns.
The couple will soon celebrate their sixth wedding anniversary. The Duke and Duchess married on April 29, 2011, at Westminster Abbey in London. They now share two children, Prince George, 3, and Princess Charlotte, who will turn 2 in May.
