Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson celebrated 29 years of marriage this weekend, and the actress went ahead and shared a sweet-but-brief post to reflect nearly three decades of marriage.
Wilson, 60, shared a pic of Hanks embracing her from behind on Monday, May 1, the morning after their anniversary. “29 years of marriage!” she expressed. “Thank you, God, for bringing me this man.”
The pair tease their anniversary plans while promoting the actor’s latest flick, The Circle, last Wednesday. “We have top secret plans that are going to set the world on fire,” Hanks told E! News.
The Oscar-winning actor shared more details about his initial chemistry with Wilson back when they met in the ‘80s while chatting with Phoebe Robinson on her podcast, Sooo Many White Guys.
“I will say that right from the get-go, I thought there was something crazy great about her,” Hanks recalled. “I met her and I thought ‘Oh, Lord. There’s something cooking here.’”
The secret to nearly 30 years of marriage, according to Hanks, is honesty—and laughter. “We learned the secret of happiness with each other a long time ago, and that’s always telling the truth,” he said. “She makes me laugh harder now than she did in 1986.”
