Billionaire Rupert Murdoch married veteran model and actress Jerry Hall in London on Friday, March 4.
According to BBC News, the 84-year-old mogul and his bride Hall, 59, tied the knot at Spencer House. Though the couple left their ceremony at Spencer House in more casual wedding attire, the location of their nuptials being at “London’s most magnificent eighteenth-century aristocratic palace” speaks volumes. While it is the first legal marriage for Hall, the model spent some time engaged to Roxy Music’s Bryan Ferry before marrying Mick Jagger, frontman for The Rolling Stones, in a 1990 Hindu ceremony which was later declared invalid. Hall and Jagger had four children together – Elizabeth, Georgia, Gabriel and James – before calling it quits 1999.
For Murdoch, who has stake in 120 newspapers including The Times and The Sun, television media like the Fox network, and publishing company HarperCollins, the wedding to Hall on Friday marks his fourth marriage. Murdoch’s previous three marriages to Patricia Booker, Anna Torv, and Wendy Deng gained the mogul 6 children – Prudence, Elisabeth, Lachlan, James, Grace and Chloe.
On Saturday, the newlyweds will gather at Fleet Street’s St. Bride’s Church for a “service of blessing,” the Church confirmed with The Knot, reiterating that Murdoch and Hall would be married prior to the service.
It is reported that the couple first met in Australia after an introduction by one of Murdoch’s sisters and niece. The couple announced their engagement in The Times newspaper in January.
