Hey, they look familiar! Humans of New York mastermind Brandon Stanton attended the 2017 Met Gala on Monday, May 1, and he ended up running into two superstar subjects in the Renaissance Wing of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Stanton took to Instagram to share a loved-up photo of Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds.
Deadpool actor Reynolds was the one to share a sweet anecdote about their marriage and how Lively has made him grow as a person.
“She always responds with empathy,” he noted to Stanton. “She meets anger with empathy. She meets hate with empathy. She’ll take the time to imagine what happened to a person when they were five or six years old. And she’s made me a more empathetic person. I had a very fractured relationship with my father. Before he died, she made me remember things I didn’t want to remember. She made me remember the good times.”
The couple married in September 2012, and share two young kids, James and Inez.
The Gossip Girl actress recently made headlines for advocating on behalf of a non-profit organization called the Child Rescue Coalition while delivering a speech at Variety’s Power of Women luncheon. “I’m here today because I’m a mama, and I have two baby girls—they’re not babies, but I think they are—James and Inez, and they are my world, and I would do anything to protect them,” Lively said in her speech. “I would literally die for them, without a moment’s thought, and for those of you who have children, I think you know what I’m talking about.”
Last December, the family of four made their public debut as Reynolds accepted his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. At the time, the actor graciously called out his wife for her unwavering support.

“I want to thank my wife, Blake, who is sitting right there who is everything to me,” Reynolds said at the time. “You are the best thing that has ever happened to me. You make everything better. You make everything in my life better. You’ve given me two of the most incredible children I’ve ever hoped to have.”
