All-inclusive takes on a new meaning for cruise line Celebrity Cruises, which announced on Wednesday, October 11, that it will offer legal, same-sex marriages on its ships.

Couples looking for a unique wedding celebration can now marry at sea, and the reason behind the ruling stems from a vote in Malta. The brand’s ships are mostly registered in Malta, which legalized same-sex weddings just this past July. Celebrity Cruises will have its ships’ captains officiate the wedding ceremonies.

In a statement, the president and CEO of the brand, Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, explained the historic move. “Celebrity Cruises has a long history of supporting the LGBTQ+ community, and I cannot think of a more important time in our history than right now to do all we can to support inclusion,” the executive explained. “I am absolutely thrilled to announce that starting today, we welcome same-sex couples to marry on our ships while in international waters.” The cruise ship has already hosted same-sex weddings in countries where it’s legal.

The weddings package includes a Captain-led ceremony, live music, an hour of photography, cake for two, the services of an event coordinator, and more.

Celebrity Cruises isn’t the only fleet to offer same-sex weddings onboard. Carnival Cruises, which oversees Princess, P&O and Cunard Line cruises, announced in August that it was offering same-sex weddings and accompanying packages after it was legalized in Bermuda, where the business is based.

The latest announcement was made on the 29th anniversary of National Coming Out Day.
