This time, he’s the one holding all the roses. The first promo for Nick Viall’s season 21 of The Bachelor was revealed on Friday, October 28.
In the short, 10-second clip unveiled by E! News, Viall looks sharp and sleek in a tailored black tux. The new season lead paces around, grins and holds one, single long-stem red rose.
“The next scream you hear may be your own,” a voice remarks in the promo as Viall grins. ”Happy Halloween!”
Two-time Bachelorette runner-up Viall was announced as the new Bachelor this past August, beating out two other fan-favorites from JoJo Fletcher’s season. Following the big announcement, longtime Bachelor host Chris Harrison explained why producers felt Viall was bestowed the coveted title. According to Harrison, the group asked key questions like: “Who’s the most deserving?” and “Who’s the most sincere?”
“Unfortunately, he’s just come up a little bit short each time,” Harrison acknowledged on Good Morning America. “He’s done his part. He will give himself to this process.”
Days later, Viall shared his side of the story in an interview with GMA. “At first I was like, ‘Really? C’mon,’” he recalled. “They asked me and I was very nervous. It took me a couple days. I told them I had to think about it.”
He had to make his decision—fast. “I didn’t have a lot of time to think about it, because they didn’t ask me too long ago,” Viall added. “It’s a huge responsibility but obviously an amazing opportunity. Ultimately, I accepted.”
