Serena Williams is one step closer to walking down the aisle! The tennis champion, engaged to Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian since December, celebrated her bridal shower on Saturday, May 6, at a luxurious Miami resort.
The 1 Hotel & Homes South Beach was the perfect celebratory spot for the pregnant future bride, 35, and her gal pals. The property is known as Miami’s “wellness hotel,” and boasts of on-site meditation and yoga classes for guests on the rooftop pool.

According to People, Williams’ entourage included 20 of her closest friends, including mom Oracene, as well as her siblings Venus, Lyn and Isha. E! News reported that the bride’s guests enjoyed healthy fare and bubbly.
Williams was celebrated throughout the weekend with decorations–including balloons that read “Nacho Average Bride”–and a cartoon piñata version of herself and Ohanian. On Sunday, the ladies dressed in yellow and stepped out for a private painting brunch followed by a private beach outing.
The shower’s planner, Val Vogt of VLV Group, told E! that there were “lots of surprises” and the event “reflected [Williams’] girlie personality.”

The group spent quality time relaxing at the oceanfront hotel, which offers views of the Atlantic, a rooftop pool, and a cozy, air conditioned cabana.
Williams has much to look forward to in the not-too-distant future! In April, the world’s top ranked women’s tennis player announced that she and Ohanian, 34, are expecting their first child. The couple made their first public appearance together last Monday at the 2017 Met Gala.

During the annual event, the tech guru gushed about his future bride with Humans of New York’s Brandon Stanton. “She has the biggest heart,” he gushed to the mastermind behind the popular blog. “Everyone sees her success as an athlete, but all of that is layered on the size of her heart. She gives 100% of herself to everything she does: as a friend, as a lover, and soon, as a mother..”
