Nerds, rejoice! Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, whose engagement to Serena Williams was revealed on Thursday, December 29, took to Twitter on Friday to revel in his good fortune.
“Thank you for all the kind words,” the tech guru tweeted. “Esp from all my Armenian brothers & sisters debating when they can claim Serena as Armenian. 😂🇦🇲 GL.”
Ohanian, who’s received a deluge of comments from fans since the surprise announcement, followed up by re-tweeting a reporter, who posted a hilarious screen shot of his updated Wikipedia page. “Ohanian is engaged to the tennis great Serena Williams,” his official page read. “In other words, Ohanian is now the luckiest nerd of us all.”

Williams, 35, the world’s number one ranked women’s tennis player, fittingly took to Reddit on Thursday to announce the shocking engagement news. “I came home. A little late. Someone had a bag packed for me. And a carriage waited. Destination: Rome,” Williams wrote in a poem. “…But by choice. Down on knee. He said 4 words. And I said yes.”
Ohanian, 33, shared Williams’ announcement on Facebook, writing: “(She said yes.) She asked me to draw her something for “the future Mrs. Kn0thing” because she had a Reddit post to make. Keeper.”
The couple, who concealed their romance from the public, shocked everyone with their engagement news. Us Weekly, however, first reported that the couple was dating in October 2015. “They met at a lunch,” a source told the magazine at the time. “It’s new.”
