Leave it to tennis champion Serena Williams to set a bridal standard for the athleisure-adoring ladies following her New Orleans wedding to Alexis Ohanian.
The couple’s wedding photographer, Allan Zepeda, posted a picture on Sunday, November 19, of the newlywed pair exchanging a tender kiss on a makeshift indoor carousel. “Surprise carousel reveal from Alexis to Serena at the after party! #dizzyonlove,” the photographer captioned the image.
Williams planned numerous outfit swaps throughout her wedding day, transitioning from a regal Alexander McQueen creation during the ceremony to a sexy Versace number at the reception.
For the after-party, the bride opted to pay homage to her athletic background by throwing on an eye-catching, glittery pair of kicks by Nike. (The world’s top-ranked female tennis player has a long-standing partnership with the global brand.)
The sneakers, which appear to be custom-made, are similar in style to the Nike Cortez sneakers that have become an It Girl-favorite within the past year. Williams and Ohanian got engaged a little less than a year ago. They exchanged vows at the Contemporary Arts Center in downtown New Orleans before a star-studded crowd that included Eva Longoria, Kim Kardashian, Beyonce, Ciara, Kelly Rowland, and many more.
