Cute, Snoop! Legendary West Coast rapper Snoop Dogg shared an amazing throwback photo with his wife, Shante Broadus, in celebration of their 19th wedding anniversary on Tuesday, June 14.
The artist posted a delightful old-school photo with his wife, both in their finest prom attire. The high school sweethearts grew up together in Long Beach, California, and got married nearly two decades ago on June 14, 1997.
In the pic, the rapper poses with his arms wrapped around Shante’s waist. “19 years today @bosslady_ent Happy anniversary been a1 from day 1 thanks for my kids.”
Though the self-proclaimed Doggfather and his wife have endured many ups and downs throughout their marriage, their bond is solid. Snoop filed for divorce in May 2004, but he quickly realized his mistake. “I was trying to get a divorce, but I went back home and I fell back in love with my wife and kids,” he told MTV in an interview. “A lot of times you get cloudy. This music industry is a mother, man, and it’ll take your vision and blur it. But God is good, so I understand that I need my wife and my kids in my life — so I threw the papers away.”
Since then, he’s worked hard to rebuild his relationship with his wife and kids. In January 2008, Snoop surprised Shante with a vow renewal ceremony. The artist planned the ceremony and surprised his wife on Charlie Wilson’s 20-acre ranch, where they exchanged vows before 200-plus guests.
To honor his wedding anniversary this year, it appears Snoop has planned a special getaway with his wife. He shared a video on Tuesday, advising his followers that he will be offline. “Yo, to all my peoples, all my supporters, I appreciate the love,” he said. “My phone will be off for the next two days so don’t call me, don’t text me, don’t look for me. I’m underground, doin’ what I’m supposed to be doin’.”
Snoop then hinted at his whereabouts on Wednesday, June 15. The star posted a photo of a plush bed decorated with a heart made of red rose petals. Two long-stemmed red roses were placed against the bed’s pillows, leading us to believe that what he’s “supposed to be doin’” is catering to his wife.
