Newlywed Sofia Vergara visited The Ellen Degeneres Show to chat it up with the comedian host about her stunning wedding to Joe Manganiello in Palm Beach on November 22.
On the episode airing today, Friday, December 3, Vergara discussed her perfect star-studded wedding, but started with a more pressing matter. The Modern Family actress entered the conversation more preoccupied with asking her pal Ellen Degeneres about her lack of appearance at the event than in spilling about her hubby’s Backstreet Boys Magic Mike XXL performance.
As shared during the interview between the two Covergirl model friends, Vergara and Manganiello had invited the 57-year-old daytime talk show host to the wedding, but Degeneres was unable to attend because of travel complications with her busy taping schedule.
“Why didn’t you make a little more effort to go?” the 43-year-old Vergara asked, to which Degeneres replied, “I have to do a show every single day – if you would had had it in town – but you had it in Florida.”
The couple were married on November 22 at The Breakers Palm Beach resort, a luxurious beachside property filled with grand ballrooms and stunning scenery perfect for the bride, groom, and their weekend of wedding festivities.
After Vergara joked that she was going to bring Degeneres a gift bag from the wedding, but gave it away to someone else who attended (because her friend Ellen never showed), Vergara moved on to gushing about how the ceremony and reception with her 400-plus wedding guests was exactly as she had pictured it.
“It was my family and closest friends,” Vergara said while images from the wedding were shown on the large screen behind the two. “Ah, my son, Manolo, was very excited to give me away,” she said when a photo of her son popped up. “It was like a fairytale, it came out perfectly like how I wanted it, I have to say.”
Ever the comedian, Vergara pokes fun at Degeneres once more asking, “Were you intimidated because of the dancing? I had a feeling you thought you were not going to be able to measure up with the Latin people,” to which Degeneres agreed.
The Colombian-American actress wasn’t kidding about the dancing being intimidating! With her Latin family and a surprise performance by rapper Pitbull, the reception was more of a concert and after party than your traditional wedding reception. The bride confirmed that the party didn’t end until about 6am the next day!
“We had a party and then an after party,” Vergara said, and when asked if guests, including the “entire cast of Modern Family” who attended, were drunk after partying for that long she said in her thick accent, “No, not everybody. They were there and they were tipsy.”
Despite Degeneres declining her wedding invite, it’s clear that Vergara and Manganiello had an incredible wedding.
“We had a great time, a lot of food, a lot of flowers, a lot of very nice people,” she said jesting one last time, “You missed a very good party.”
