Southwest Airlines Solves Wedding Dilemma After Bridesmaid Forgets to Pack Her Gown to Destination Nuptials

Note to wedding party members: Remember to put your gown (or suit) at the top of your packing list. One bridesmaid learned that lesson the hard way when she flew to Costa Rica for her friend’s destination wedding only to discover upon landing that she had forgotten to pack her bridesmaid dress.

The panicked bridal party member named Grayleigh also didn’t have enough time to get the gown shipped due to timing. That’s when Southwest Airlines, which she had taken from Houston to Costa Rica, thankfully stepped in.

The bridesmaid’s friend, Taylor Kenney, took to Twitter to discuss the dilemma.

“My friend is in a wedding on Saturday in Costa Rica but she left her bridesmaid dress here in Houston,” Kenney tweeted at Southwest. “Can we get her dress on flight #1734 tomorrow?”

The same friend added the hashtag, “#WorthATry.”

To her surprise, Southwest replied several hours later and wrote, “Alright, let’s do it!”

On Friday, Grayleigh’s other pal Rachel took the gown—a white halter column dress—to the airport where she was greeted by an airline employee. Southwest then documented the dress journey as it reached its destination, including images of Grayleigh greeting the piece with much enthusiasm in time for the wedding festivities.

“Well that was fun! Thanks for making today one for the books here, Taylor,” Southwest employee Ariel replied. “You just never know what one tweet can do. Have a great weekend!”

The final tweet from Southwest showed the bride and her appropriately-dressed bridesmaid both in their respective wedding attire.

“Yep,” the airline wrote Sunday, March 3. “That was totally worth it.”
