Stranger Things have happened? Actor David Harbour, best known for his role as Chief Jim Hopper on Netflix’s Stranger Things, officiated a fan’s wedding this weekend after a simply Twitter request went viral.
Nine months ago, a fan from the show named Ericka Millholland asked Harbour to officiate her September wedding to Daniel Rockwood. “What would it take to get @DavidKHarbour to be the officiant at my wedding in September?!” Millholland tweeted in January.
Harbour agreed at the time, however, under one condition: “125k retweets,” the Golden Globe nominee replied. “Provided date works with s3 shooting schedule, I will get ordained and perform ceremony. I get to read an esteemed love letter of my choosing, and after the cake is officially cut, I get the very first piece. #allthecakes.”
Less than 24 hours later, Harbour was locked in as the officiant in the Springfield, Illinois wedding. A man of his word, the actor then told the bride to message him directly for details.

The wedding took place on a sunny Saturday on September 15. Harbour even dressed in character to preside over the nuptials.
“Hey internet. I know it’s been awhile. I retreated. Needed some space. You probably get it,” Harbour shared with fans this weekend. “But I’ve been thinking about ya in the interim. And all your retweets. And so me and some fun folks in Springfield, Illinois made good on our promise we made all those months ago.”
“It’s really weird and exciting and kind of overwhelming, but in a good way,” the bride told the Chicago Tribune in January.
