Karlie Kloss has traditionally remained private about her relationship with Joshua Kushner, but the recently-engaged supermodel had a lot to say about the venture capitalist and his recent proposal in a new interview published this week.
According to the top model, Kushner proposed in June, but the couple chose to keep their newly-minted engagement status a secret until a month later. “The proposal was romantic and sweet,” Kloss told Vogue. “We spent the weekend in upstate New York, just the two of us.”
It was during a vacation with her family in Capri on July 24, that Kushner and Kloss finally decided to debut their engagement status. Of course, the model’s friends and family members reacted to the proposal news in a public manner, including her future sister-in-law, Ivanka Trump, congratulating her “sister” on social media.
“At the end of the day, I’ve had to make decisions based on my own moral compass—forget what the public says, forget social media,” she added in the same interview. “I’ve chosen to be with the man I love despite the complications.”
In fact, Kloss shared more details about what she appreciates about her future husband. “Josh and I share a lot of the same liberal values that guide our lives and the things we stand for,” Kloss explained to the magazine. “We’ve really grown together personally and professionally. Josh knows that I’m just a nerdy, curious human being. I think that’s why he loves me. We have each other’s back.”
The couple dated for six years before their engagement. “I love you more than I have words to express,” she wrote in July. “Josh, you’re my best friend and my soulmate. I can’t wait for forever together. Yes a million times over.”
