If there’s anything guaranteed from season 3 of This Is Us, it’s that more tears will flow as viewers witness the unraveling of the complex storylines of the characters featured on NBC’s beloved family drama.
On Friday, September 7, the first footage from the upcoming season was unveiled, and it thankfully still includes scenes involving Pearson family patriarch Jack (Milo Ventimiglia). In fact, it shows how he and future wife Rebecca (played by Mandy Moore) met and enjoyed their very first date together.
One of the outings involves an outdoor carnival, and while there, Rebecca has some candy apple smothered on her lip. Jack adorably and flirtatiously calls it out: “Bec, you got something on your face there,” he notes.
“You go back into the past,” Ventimiglia says of shooting those lighter scenes. “Picking up from the night when they first met and how they spend the rest of that evening,” Moore adds in the teaser.
Other romantic moments show a developing interest between Kevin (Justin Hartley) and Beth’s cousin Zoe (Melanie Liburd). Their relationship seems serious enough that they even end up on a plane together bound for Vietnam, although Beth (Susan Kelechi Watson) does not seem very pleased about the developing dynamics between the two.
The last season ultimately ended with a wedding between Kate (Chrissy Metz) and Toby (Chris Sullivan). The season 3 teaser shows the pair trying for a baby while working through Toby’s depression. “These are stories that tap into what’s happening so intimately in people’s lives,” Ventimiglia explains in the teaser.
