Tom Brady wouldn’t be where he is today without Gisele Bündchen. The New England Patriots quarterback stopped by Good Morning America on Tuesday, February 5, to discuss his sixth Super Bowl victory—and the pressures that accompany the public spotlight. Lucky for him, he has his wife to thank for her unwavering support.
“She’s my rock,” he told Michael Strahan. “I married someone that is… I know is my life partner. She’s just one of the most caring, nurturing people in the world.”
For Brady, much of his career has come with his wife’s sacrifice for their three kids—they are parents to Benjamin and Vivian, as well as John, his son whom he shares with ex Bridget Moynahan. “The way she takes care of our family when I’m working, sacrificing a lot of her dreams, you know, that she wants to do for me, I can only tell her I love her so much,” he continued. “And she knows and she feels it… Family is so important to me.”
At the game, Brady felt the support from fans, and especially, his family. “My parents were there last night, my sisters were there,” he continued. “And it brings you so much joy when everyone is there to celebrate with you, so she’s got my back, I have no doubt about that and she knows I have hers.”
Following his big win Sunday night, the supermodel and their children were photographed victoriously joining Brady on the field at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. “What a special night. Congratulations Patriots! Congratulations my love!” Bundchen wrote Monday. “Your tireless commitment, discipline and hard work never seizes to amaze me. We love you!”
The couple married in an informal ceremony in April 2009, in Santa Teresa, Costa Rica. “There was no formal wedding reception afterward. It was more like a free-for-all, a joyful, relaxed party, just the way I’d always imagined it would be,” Gisele wrote in her 2018 memoir. “People ate Mexican food and drank margaritas. They sat or stood in the kitchen, or on the lawn, or by the side of the pool… I remember drinking two margaritas, and after two margaritas you don’t remember or care about very much. I do remember looking for, and finding, Tom, and though I can’t remember who led and who followed—does it matter?—we started to dance. We are still dancing, and growing through the ups and downs of life.”
