Bridal shower and bachelorette party designing can be overwhelming since most people don’t even know where to begin with arrangements and flowers. Thankfully, floral startup UrbanStems has a new creative director, announced Monday, November 5, and with Lewis Miller’s installment, the brand has unveiled several luxe floral displays that will transform any shower space.

Miller of Lewis Miller Designs has made a scene in recent years as New York City’s resident “flower bandit,” by taking random spaces (fountains and trash cans included) and creating whimsical installments overnight now trademarked as the “Flower Flash.” He’s also a seasoned wedding designer and florist accustomed to working with couples seeking breathtaking decor as an experience for their ceremony and reception guests.

“A beautiful wedding is one that feels and looks effortless,” he muses to The Knot. “Lewis Miller Designs recently designed a wedding at the Nomad Hotel, and for the rehearsal dinner, I used only tall, sleek and slender Irises that ran the length of the tables. The overall look was so striking and gorgeous. I think there is such beauty and strength in using a single element in floral designs… Mixing it up, by not mixing it up.”

Miller recalls one of his career highlights, a wedding he designed in East Hampton a few years back, which was designed with an eight-peak black tent. “It was sexy as sin and the silhouette against the dusky blue sky was an incredible sight,” he says. “A black tent is a hard sell to a lot of clients but what most don’t realize is that everything inside the tent that you don’t want to see, like structural supports and lighting, it all disappears. So everything you do want to highlight: trees, plants, florals, lanterns, absolutely pops and comes to life. The final result was breathtaking. Guests felt like they were walking into a life sized terrarium lit entirely by candlelight.”

He’s now translated his beloved aesthetic to the masses with UrbanStems, a Washington, D.C.-based company that has expanded nationwide and offers same-day deliveries in New York City and D.C.

“I have always believed that living with nature is a luxury everyone should be able to enjoy and afford,” he says. “The bouquet offerings for UrbanStems are a direct reflection of my personal design aesthetic. The arrangements are textured, colorful and sumptuous.”

For Miller, joining forces with the online service was a no-brainer. “My goal is to educate not only brides and couples, but any flower lover on how to [maintain], style and enjoy flowers. Flowers really are exquisite and can bring so much joy into your home and life.”

The best part is the wedding party can decorate any space with a few chic arrangements to breathe sophistication into a theme. Prices range from $38 to $125 per bouquet. The Alice ($70), The Mohawk (48) and The Graffiti ($45) are all inspired by his famed Flower Flashes. See the collection below.
