In a surprise elopement, Alias actor Victor Garber, 66, and longtime boyfriend, model/painter Rainer Andreesen, quietly tied the knot in Tofino, Canada over the weekend. Although the specifics of the secret wedding are scarce, Garber’s husband Andreesen confirmed their nuptials in an adorable photo on Instagram.
Andreesen shared his photo of himself and Garber both in suits and both looking joyfully shocked on October 10, writing, “YES WE DID! #justgotmarried #elopedintofino #canada @therealvictorgarber #after16years.”
Garber later shared a photo of the couple exchanging vows on his Instagram, writing, “Wickaninnish Inn Tofino BC magical place to tie the knot.” In the wedding photo, Garber and Andreesen are both grinning while standing in front of their officiant.
Though the two have kept the details of their relationship under wraps for some time, when asked what his biggest achievement was in an interview with Canada’s Forever Young News in 2013, Garber said, “My relationships with my family and my friends. My companion Rainer Andreesen and I have been together almost 13 years in Greenwich Village. We both love New York.”
Garber’s coming out story was just as cool and quiet as the actor’s wedding. In 2013, when asked if he had publicly confirmed that Andreesen was his partner, he told Greg Hernandez of the Greg in Hollywood blog, “I don’t really talk about it, but everybody knows.”
Garber, recognized by fans of Alias, Legally Blonde, Titanic and The Flash will next be appearing in DC’s Legends of Tomorrow series on the CW network.
