She may not smile much for photographers, but Victoria Beckham definitely has a sense of humor. The former Spice Girl recently showed off her comedic stylings in a docu-style spoof for British Vogue in honor of the 10th anniversary of her first cover for the magazine.
In the 5-minute clip, Beckham, 44, adopts a calmly serious tone as she explains to the documentarian that “we’re shooting a cover story celebrating the rich and inspiring history of one of the most enduring style icons of all time. Me, Victoria Beckham.”
The fashion icon hilariously beckons in a whole slew of movers who march into the video shoot space with one memorable outfit after another, including the strapless little black dress she often wore as one-fifth of the Spice Girls girl group, a black PVC catsuit complete with ears and, memorably, her wedding dress from her 1999 nuptials to David Beckham.
The over-the-top Vivienne Westwood gown looks just as regal on Beckham as when she wore it to wed David on July 4, 1999, but British Vogue editor-in-chief Edward Enninful looks mock-appalled when Victoria poses in it in front of cameras.
“Chic, elegant, refined,” he tries to remind Beckham as she lists of ideas for the shoot, which include a number of her memorable looks from music videos of lore.
“What I want, what I really, really, want, is me, four other women, one sporty, bit of an athleisure direction, another one that’s younger, lots of pink, pigtails, one that’s very glamorous — full-on leopard print,” she says at one point, describing herself and her former Spice Girls colleagues in a tongue-in-cheek way. “And then another one that’s super, super sexy. Big boobs, red hair.”
Beckham also litters the rest of the video with other lines from the girl group’s hit songs, as when she tells him, at the end, “Edward, I’m giving you everything. All that joy can bring. This, I swear. And all that I want from you is the promise … You know what, at least give my idea a shot. Spice up your life Edward, just spice up your life.”
