For 23 years since its theatrical release brides, grooms and fans of fairy tales have swooned over the iconic love story of Aladdin and Jasmine from the Disney animated classic Aladdin.
The promises made in the lovers’ duet “A Whole New World” resemble vows in their own right, and the song has graced countless first dances for newlyweds since its debut in 1992.
To promote the Diamond Edition re-release of the hand-drawn cartoon, Lea Salonga and Brad Kane, singing voices of Jasmine and Aladdin, reunited to perform the romantic duet “A Whole New World” together once more.
Joined by composer Alan Menken on piano, the two crooning Disney celebrities channeled the Princess of Agrabah and her street rat prince to bring the magic carpet ride to life on Good Morning America on Friday.
The blu-ray Diamond Edition of Aladdin features a deleted song “Proud of Your Boy,” new games, and bonus content featuring the late Robin Williams as the Genie. A sneak peek as some of Williams’ voice-over outtakes were shared during the GMA segment, and the reunited cast which also included speaking voices of Aladdin and Jasmine, Scott Wenger and Linda Larkin, and voice of villain Jafar, Jonathan Freeman, shared their memories of Williams.
The Diamond Edition of Aladdin will be released on October 13.
